Examine your life through philosophical dialogue and inquiry
Philosophical Counseling
A space for people who want to raise above the norm of being simply functional.
Philosophical Counselling is not therapy nor coaching

Today philosophy is often associated with universities, academic papers, and theoretical debates. But historically philosophy began as something very different: an instrument that helped people live better. Philosophy was meant to help people examine their beliefs, question their assumptions, and develop clarity about what truly matters.

A Philosophical Counseling practice is part of a modern effort to return philosophy to its original purpose.
It aims to help people adopt a more philosophical attitude towards life, meaning refraining from unreflective immersion in everyday routine.

Rather than helping people become "normal" and adapt to whatever is happening in their lives, a philosophical practice initiates a vertical movement, a form of transcendence. It shifts us from the everyday attitude to a philosophical attitude, which eventually becomes a philosophical way of life.
Philosophical counsellor is not interested in helping you become “normal”. We aim to help you raise above the norm of being simply functional. The mission of philosophical practice is to go beyond normality and beyond mere functionality.

How It Works
  • One question - One session
Each session is centered around one clearly formulated question or problem that you bring. This helps keep the conversation focused and allows us to explore the topic in depth rather than moving between multiple themes.
  • Think of the question ahead of the session
Please reflect on the issue you would like to discuss prior to the session. This might be a personal dilemma, a value conflict, a difficult decision, or a broader life question. Philosophical counseling works best when there is a genuine question you want to think through.
  • The conversation
During the session we will examine your question together. This may involve - clarifying concepts and assumptions, identifying hidden beliefs or contradictions, exploring different life perspective, articulating your own position more clearly.

You don't have to have any prior knowledge of philosophy.
  • The outcome
By the end of the session many people experience greater clarity about their question, a broader perspective on their situation, and a more coherent understanding of their own position. Often this leads naturally to new insights or directions for action.
Pricing
1 session costs 150 EUR and takes 60 to 90 minutes.
Meetings can take place online (video-call) or offline in Amsterdam.
